Second Life LED Indicator v1.1 Source Files Released (October 13, 2008)
New World Electric has just released an RGB LED USB-attached multipurpose indicator lamp under the Creative Commons license. The indicator lamp may be used for a variety of purposes, but is targeted at Second Life citizens who would like to know what is going on in-world while they're in another application or away from the computer. The SLED takes input via serial commands, and represents the output in a variety of colors, transitions, and blinking patterns. The SLED may be used to indicate vendor health in-world, buddy logins, proximity sensor status, or a myriad of states depending on the developer's interest.
Eagle v5 schematics, the Arduino sketch and the protocol (coming shortly) can be found below.
This device is based on (but not affiliated with) the Arduino project. The design and source code are released under Creative Commons Attribution and Sharealike (the source code is released under a Attribution, ShareAlike, Non-Commercial variation of CC.) More information will follow shortly.
